Little

May is coming to an end, and up until now life has still been very busy despite being on summer break. It feels like just yesterday I was working on my April Favorites post.

A lot has happened in the month of May that has kept me pulled away from blogging. I’m so glad to finally be back! With everything that has happened, I think someone out there must want the whole scoop on everything. 🙂

At the beginning of this month I had my Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society induction ceremony for college. Which, was a much smaller ceremony than I expected. However, it was the first group of students from my school to be inducted into this honor society. 🙂 My short little self…I’m five foot 2, decided to wear a maxi dress. Before you ask, yes it was a wee bit long on me…but I wanted to try something different!

This month I also had my first bad Friday the 13th experience. Coincidentally, on this day I saw a bunch of fraudulent charges on mine and my boyfriend’s banking account. Everything was taken from us, and then some. This was a big deal as we are both full-time college students, and part-time workers. We immediately went down to our bank to figure out what was going on.

We ended up having to do a ton of paper work and such. Ultimately, it wasn’t a fun experience. We couldn’t use our banking account for weeks. We just barely got new debit cards and use of our account again. Luckily, we got all of our money back and everything is fine now! 🙂

The next unexpected event? Car trouble!  So our car was starting to get worse and worse…We were going to buy a brand new car next year before we transfer schools, but we changed our minds. We didn’t see the point into putting anymore money into our current car when we planned on buying a new one anyway. We just moved up the time frame for the brand new car.

Buying a car is a time consuming process. The paperwork is never-ending but totally worth it, and the people that we worked with to purchase the car were absolutely amazing! This was a very exciting experience for us. We ended up getting a black 2016 Toyota Corolla Sport. By the way I just realized you may be wondering who I mean when I say “we”, I am referring to my boyfriend and I.

That’s my month in a short recap. There was a lot of other small stuff that happened here and there that kept me busy as well. Nonetheless I am so glad to be back to my usual routine! 🙂

If you want to keep up with me on the daily you can follow me on Twitter, Pinterest, or Instagram.

That’s the beginning of my summer. What are you guys up to this summer? Anyone have any exciting plans? Let me know down in the comments.

water is important for your beauty

My number one beauty tip that I give to everyone is to drink as much water as you can a day. Water is essential, not only to your health, but also to how your skin behaves. It is possible to cure a lot of minor skin problems just by drinking a proper amount of water. For a long time I was horrible about drinking water, or just drinking in general. I was almost always dehydrated. Now I drink water like it’s my job.

Super Helpful App

What changed? Well my friend recommended I try the app Plant Nanny. So I did. I’m not sure how popular Plant Nanny is, and I’m not even sure if it is even available to Iphone users, but having a water tracking app in general is a great idea…Plant Nanny is just the one that I’ve become obsessed with! My boyfriend laughs whenever he sees me watering my plants.

plant nanny

The concept behind this app is that every time you finish a bottle of water (or whatever amount in ounces you decide to set up) you get to water your plant. Your plant grows, and eventually you get to move it outside to your garden. Then you can harvest seeds, and plant new plants. If you don’t water your plant… It can die. It makes something as basic as drinking water easier to remember. Especially, because you make it so the app sends alerts that remind you to drink.

Skin Improvements

Since increasing my water intake I have noticed that my skin is more plump. My under eyes are no longer crepey and weird. My foundation applies much smoother. I even have a lot less blackheads.

Choose Water 😉

Yes, we all know that drinking water is common sense and that it is important..however, I don’t know about you but I tend to notice people drinking more coffee, soda, juices, and other drinks over water. Don’t forget to drink water! Your body will thank you. 🙂

Another good way to increase your water intake is to only order water at restaurants.

Let me know if you decide to check out Plant Nanny, and what you think of it!

Sorry For Being MIA

Oh, and on a side note I am sorry I’ve been missing a bit this last week. My college semester is winding down and I have had a lot of assignments. This coming week is my last week of classes, and homework. I am going to try to keep up with posting this week, but if I don’t I will be back in no time! This summer is going to be very exciting for the blog. I will have lots of time to post, and the weather should be much better for outside pictures. I also have a little trip planned that I may end up blogging about as well. Thank you for sticking with me! Stay tuned for more,

Liebster Award

The blogging community is one filled with people willing to help others and just overall kindness. Part of this kindness is the Liebster Award, which is an award passed among newer bloggers in order to help each other get notice. Typically this award is spread among bloggers with 1000 or less followers. I got nominated for this award by an amazing girl named Meaghan. This post may be a bit long but it is a good way to get to know me a bit better as a person, but to keep on topic I am also posting a makeup related post along with this one today. 🙂 I hope you all enjoy this post and check out the blogs that I nominate at the end! 🙂

1. Thank and link the person that nominated you.

3. Answer the 11 questions given to you by your nominator.

4. Nominate 11 other blogs that have 1000 or less followers on their blog.

3. I have three brothers and four sisters.

4. I genuinely love writing.

5. I have never seen the Lion King.

6. I fell down the stairs, of the stage, at my high school graduation in front of everyone. Maybe I will put the video on YouTube and link it sometime in the future.

9. I hate pancakes.

10. I have no tattoos currently but I am planning one out.

11. I have a fear of mayo…even typing this is a struggle… even the word is nasty…

Questions From Meaghan:

1. Why did you start your blog:

I started my blog for a couple of different reasons. The main reason being that I love makeup and I want to inspire others to branch out when it comes to makeup. I also love writing and I felt that this would be the best medium for me to express myself. The last reason I started my blog is because I’m planning on working behind the scenes in the cosmetics field for my career choice. I plan to get a degree in business/marketing. I felt like starting a blog would be an enriching hobby for me that could also help other people.

2. Who’s your favorite author right now?

To be completely honest…I don’t get much time to read at the moment. Though I do enjoy reading.

3. What’s your biggest goal for 2016?

I have two really big goals for 2016. I want to continue to build up my blog and continue to make it something I’m really proud of. I also want to figure out which college I plan on transferring to soon and get that process completed. 🙂

4. What’s the number 1 place on your travel wish-list?

Oh jeez, one place? I have so many that I can’t decide between. My top places that I want to travel to are Italy, Ireland, and some place super tropical.

5. Have you tried anything new lately?

My boyfriend laughed when he saw this question because recently we tried a different restaurant with a friend. To keep the story short…they both had me try beef trepid which for anyone doesn’t know what that is…it’s the stomach lining of a cow. Still not sure how I feel about it.

6. What languages do you speak?

I speak English…I know tiny bits of French, Latin, and Russian…but I really do mean only TINY bits.

7. How would you describe you own style and also your blog style?

My own style I am still developing clothing wise…so I don’t know how I would describe that yet. Makeup wise it changes all of the time! 🙂 My blog style I would describe as creative but also sophisticated. 🙂

8. Do you like to watch YouTube videos and if so who is your favorite channel to subscribed to?

I do watch YouTube and my favorite channel is Jaclyn Hill’s. She started from absolutely nothing and now look where she is! She’s a great role model for younger girls. Also she’s very modest in her videos with the way she dresses and talks. I like that a lot.

9. Describe yourself in 3 words

Caring, creative, and intelligent.

10. One beauty item/brand you can’t live without?

Max Fix Plus was the first thing that came to mind. I use it every single day and I don’t know what I would do without it.

11. What tips would you give anyone starting a blog?

The main tip I would give is to get a camera that you can take really nice flat lay pictures with. Picture quality is important for blogs. 🙂

11 Questions for my nominees:

1. How did you come up with your blog name?

2. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

Netflix and Chill

Okay, so I watch A LOT of Netflix. I wouldn’t say I watch it an unhealthy amount or anything, I mean I still get out of the house. ;P I like to watch Netflix when I am doing other things. Sometimes I will watch Netflix while I do homework, style my hair, put on makeup, play with my bird, and mostly when I cannot fall asleep at night. Yeah yeah I know if you are an insomniac you shouldn’t watch TV before bed or spend time on your cellphone…I’ve heard this a million times from my boyfriend. I’ve been putting electronics down more often around bedtime and I have seriously cut back my Netflix watching time in the last two to three months.

These are my absolute favorite shows on Netflix, if you are hunting for something new…Let your hunt end here.

Spartacus

Spartacus is not appropriate for everyone. I really wouldn’t watch this if you are under the age of  seventeen…maybe even eighteen. Spartacus is filled with blood, gore, and sex. However, it has one of the best story lines of any show I’ve seen. I felt like a lot of the characters had realistic personalities and they were all unique as well. Swords and spears are more entertaining to watch in combat than guns in my opinion, so this is another reason I enjoyed this show. However, this show definitely isn’t for everyone.

The Following

If you want more blood and gore there is The Following. There is less blood in The Following than there is in Spartacus, but this is also a much more modern plot line. The Following will confuse you as to which side you are supposed to like; good or bad. It may haunt your dreams, but if you are anything like me…the characters will keep drawing you back in. At the end of every episode you will crave to find out what happens next.

Fringe

I can get pretty geeky and Fringe really satisfies this side of me. Walter is the best character ever! Quirky, brilliant, and obsessed with LSD; he’s one of the main characters and he did a fantastic job. Well rounded characters, a plot line unlike anything else, and many seasons to get you hooked till the very end.

Hart Of Dixie

Hart Of Dixie is a heartwarming show that is perfect when you need some comfort. Sometimes I wish the world worked the way it does in this Hart Of Dixie. If anyone knows a place where everyone helps each other, and treats each other the way they do in Hart of Dixie, let me know!

Leverage

Leverage can easily be described as the modern-day Robin Hood. Except there is a group of “thieves” that help out the “poor”. If you like romance and action you will love this show. I will confess that the first couple of episodes weren’t the best but if you give it a shot it gets much better!

Blue Collar

My boyfriend had to listen to my chattering about Blue Collar for such a long time. I was OBSESSED with this show. Mozart, oddly enough, was my favorite character. If you aren’t keen on laughing I suggest you skip this show. ;P

The 100

There is only one negative when it comes to this show; there isn’t enough seasons out yet! Whoever came up with the story line for this show was incredibly creative! I binge watched this show on Netflix so quickly it was insane.

Gossip Girl

I’ll let you in on a little secret…My boyfriend adored Gossip Girl. I’m sure anyone that has watched this show on Netflix can guess who his favorite character was. Yes, it was Chuck Bass. He picked on me at first when I started this series but shortly after he began watching almost every episode with me! Ladies, I dare you to get your boyfriend hooked!

Let me know if you’ve watched any of these shows and what you thought of them!

Makeup Of The Day

Today’s makeup of the day was very simple. I wanted an easy eye with a bold lip. I also decided to rock some messy hair. Lipstick is Mac’s Smoked Purple.

Springtime Goals

Coming from an area that has a cold climate for most months out of the year, spring is something I look forward to. People get depressed during the winter where I come from. When the sun starts to come out and shine more, so do the people. The grass gets greener, I tend to get leaner, and positivity just floats through the air. This spring I’m making more goals for myself; I find I’m most productive when I set and accomplish goals. Spreading inspiration is a want of mine, and for this reason I decided to share my goals with all of you! Maybe it’ll inspire others to create and complete goals this spring too.

  1. Create and stick to a weekly schedule. I’m awful when it comes to keeping a strict schedule. I blame this on the fact that I have done a majority of my schooling from home. I have great self motivation but I am used to doing things when I feel like it. I realize this isn’t exactly fair to any readers that are expecting my posts, so this is something I am going work really hard to change. I also want to get on a schedule that will include exercise as well.  Working on a computer all day means I also sit on my butt quite a bit. Exercise is essential, and our generation doesn’t get enough of it because of technology. I need to increase my activity level.
  2. Try to have an overall healthier diet. My diet isn’t absolutely horrible, but it really isn’t the greatest either. I need to eat more throughout the day, have healthier, and better balanced meals. Bettering oneself should always be a thought, especially when it comes to health. Improving my overall health is a major goal of mine.
  3. Wake up earlier. When it comes to sleeping…lets just say I suck at counting sheep. My sheep are, metaphorically speaking, are demon-like with knives and they torture me all night. Whoa wait where is this going? Clearly, I’m in need of some sleep right now. Anyway…I really want to start waking up earlier. I hate waking up late because I feel like I have little to no time to get things done. I need to become the boss of my sheep and start waking up when the rooster cockadoodledoos. What is with my obsession with farm animals today? 😛
  4. My last goal is very blog/traffic oriented. Improving my use of Pinterest in order to get better Pinterest related traffic. I’m a bit of a Pinterest newbie but I do know that a lot of people like to get their blog reading fill through Pinterest. I want anyone that can gain something from reading my posts to be able to access them on the platform they are most comfortable using. 🙂

Setting goals is important for all of us human beings. We couldn’t improve ourselves, or the world that we live in if we didn’t set goals. These are my goals for the spring, in the comments share your springtime goals with me! I’d love to hear them and they may even encourage me to make more goals!

As always, I hope you are doing well, cya next time Lovebirds!
